IPA Energy + Water Economics offer clients a broad spectrum of training options; off-the-shelf, bespoke or online training programmes. Topics currently available include business strategy, business planning, accounting & finance and HR as well as our Introduction to Regulation and Energy Markets and Risk Management programmes outlined below.
Introduction to Regulation – is a week long introductory course for those new to regulation of the energy or water sectors or those whose knowledge needs refreshing, covering the main aspects of the regulatory framework, including: legislation and licensing; codes and agreements; price controls and tariff setting; accounting and information requirements; and quality of service issues.
Energy Markets and Risk Management – is a two/three day course covering supply and demand conditions and price drivers, market organisation, organisation of internal functions to support energy trading, risk identification, assessment and management, energy purchase agreements (either or both of electricity and gas, as required) competition policy and competition law, market monitoring and the impacts of regulation.
If one of our off the shelf training courses does not meet your needs, IPA’s training services team also specialises in tailor made training courses and seminars, designed to meet a client’s specific requirements, usually delivered to the client’s staff in house. They range from major know-how transfer programmes designed to meet institutional development needs, such as leadership development programmes for potentially hundreds of participants, to short and highly focussed programmes designed to meet a specific knowledge gap at a specific time. Recently we have developed tailor made courses on gas contract negotiations, a course on energy trading and risk management and a course on renewables development and emissions trading markets.
